Cirquesco
Take the seductiveness of the Argentinian tango and French burlesque. Add the oohs and aahs of European circus techniques. The result, Cirquesco, an unforgettable evening that explores the art of choreography while testing the limits of the human body. From beginning to end, Cirquesco is a breathtaking production featuring state-of-the-art lighting, costuming and choreography.
Cirquesco was developed by Kevin Black, a former dancer, who decided that being on the stage was not fulfilling enough for him. He enjoyed choreography, costume design and set design, as well. He worked for several years at Norwegian Cruise Lines, developing and producing shows for onboard entertainment. In 1992, he settled in Florida and began Kevin Black Productions to provide entertainment for everything from cruise lines to resorts and theaters. He has presented Dance D’Amour and Dance Your Pants Off to sell-out crowds at The Lyric. Recently, he has directed Spamalot, Tommy and The Rocky Horror Show at The Crest Theatre in Delray Beach. He has designed several Cirque-style shows, spurred in part by the success of Cirque du Soleil.
“Before Cirque du Soleil, the circus theme was thought to appeal only to younger audiences,” he said. “It was all about fun and clowns and silliness in three rings. Cirque du Soleil made circus a form of art that would appeal to the intellectual side and brought it into the adult world.”
For Cirquesco, Black has brought professionally-trained dancers and acrobats and added state-of-the-art lighting and costuming and an electrifying soundtrack for a titillating and jaw-dropping exploration of the human body in action. Black considers it “Cirque du Soleil meets Moulin Rouge.” You’ll consider it simply amazing.
