The Motowners
Transport back to the time when The Temptations and The Four Tops ruled the airways, and everyone was listening to Diana Ross and The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Get ready for The Motowners
The group was founded nearly 15 years ago by Derrick Hadley, a native New Yorker, with a family background in music. His maternal grandmother attended the New England Conservatory in Boston in the 1920s and his mother, who had the greatest impact on his music, was an accomplished pianist and choral music teacher. His vocal talents were first developed and nurtured while singing gospel in his Youth AME church choir. He went on to attend the Dillard School of the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale and spent the early part of his career in off-Broadway shows and performing a one-man singing act which he developed after working for the Songs of Broadway Company,
The Motowners feature powerful vocalists and a tight rhythm section and perform all the best of soul and blues classics with style. Their show is sing-alongable and family friendly and they are familiar faces on festival stages, cruise ships and casinos. In 2010, they opened for the legendary Spinnners and in 2012, they performed for First Lady Michelle Obama.
