Regis Philbin
Known for his contagious humor and sharp wit, Regis Philbin has been a staple of national television for decades. Now, he takes his charm to the stage for an evening of big-band classics accompanied by a world-class 18-piece orchestra. Regis will keep you on your toes, singing the best of the classics from “Pennies from Heaven” to “You Make Me Feel So Young” with his characteristic charm and comedic timing.
Regis Philbin is a true veteran of entertainment. Born in the Bronx, Regis got his start in the business in the 1950s, working behind the scenes for a number of big prime-time television shows, including The Tonight Show, eventually becoming the official announcer of the program in 1962. He began his long career in talk show hosting in the 1960s, extending his presence in the industry far into the coming decades, hosting a series of live morning programs including “Live with Regis and Kelly” that would garner him international attention.
Apart from his talk show career, Regis Philbin is a prominent game show host, hosting the American version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” and the first season of “America’s Got Talent.” The multi-talented personality hosted the 2004 ABC’s New Years Eve show, replacing legendary host Dick Clark. In 2004, Regis Philbin set a Guinness World Record for “Most Hours On Camera” with over 16,000 hours on television.
His success in front of the camera extends on to the stage. Regis has impressed audiences across the nation with his tender and honest interpretations of his favorite crooners, such as Dean Martin, Perry Como, and Frank Sinatra. Regis has released albums to great success, including his 1968 pop release “It’s Time For Regis!” and his 2004 album “When You’re Smiling,” released 36 years later. His 2005 Christmas album featured several duets with some of his closest friends such as Donald Trump, Steve Tyrell, and his wife Joy. At the Lyric this March, Regis will croon his favorite classics backed by a dynamic orchestra.
