Treasure Coast Youth Symphony Presents

Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Berlioz: The Musical Art of the Three Bs Plus One

What is classical music? Music that expresses life, truth, beauty, reveals facets of the human condition, inspires emotional responses, and continues to be relevant by becoming part of the history of ideas is classic or “classical” music. In a sense, its persistent relevance makes it quite contemporary.

This program by the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony highlights and explores important and well-loved pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Berlioz. Looking back into history and lists of composers in terms of importance, most musicologists agree that Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms were the most influential composers of all time. Perhaps Mozart, Schubert and many others should be in the mix, but these three are the ones whose vision changed the musical style of their day and moved the development of music further to where we are today. For our concert, because the last composer of the three, Brahms, is usually considered in a tie with French composer, Hector Berlioz, we include him within our catch phrase, The Musical Art of the Three Bs Plus One.

Educating to preserve, create, and celebrate our musical heritage, the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony continues to serve our community as one of its finest musical arts organizations for young musicians and orchestra audiences since 1987. The Treasure Coast Youth Symphony is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization.
