Glenn Miller Orchestra

Recreating the legendary ensemble of the man who defined swing, the Glenn Miller Orchestra celebrates over 50 years of bringing big band into the spotlight. With all the flair expected from a 1940s brass band, the Glenn Miller Orchestra performs classics from way back when, including “Chatanooga Choo Choo”, “Moonlight Serenade”, and more. Relive the glory days of swing this January at The Lyric.

Until his mysterious disappearance in 1944, Glenn Miller was at the forefront of big band music, playing for sold out crowds across the country. Miller, at the height of his career, was the bandleader that led one of the most sought after brass ensembles. Although his own life was cut short, Glenn Miller’s musical legacy has lived on. Immortalized in the 1953 hit movie, The Glenn Miller Story starring James Stewart, Glenn Miller’s mark on the entertainment industry can still be felt. From “At Last” to “Tuxedo Junction”, Miller’s own songs appear throughout popular culture and his influence is immeasurable.

Formed in 1956 after wide popular demand, the Glenn Miller Orchestra magically recreates the atmosphere and energy of an authentic Glenn Miller performance like no other group can. Just as the original Glenn Miller Orchestra celebrated wide acclaim, performing in dance halls, studio sets, and theaters across the United States, the new Glenn Miller Orchestra has become one of most highly successful big bands in the nation. Performing an average of 300 live dates a year, the Glenn Miller Orchestra proves that brass is alive and well. The orchestra covers not only Glenn Miller’s own classic pieces, but a number of other hit songs as well, including “Swing Low Sweet Chariot”, “Someone To Watch Over Me”, and “Danny Boy.”
