La Fille mal Gardee
La Fille mal Gardee - The Poorly Guarded Girl Is a comic ballet as well as one of one of the oldest and most important works in the modern ballet répertoire, presented in three acts.
Synopsis: Lise is the only daughter of Widow Simone. She is in love with a young farmer named Colas but her mother has far more ambitious plans and is determined to marry Lise with Alain, the son of a wealthy landowner. Lise’s and Colas’ friends help them try and be together but Widow Simone persists on matching them up until eventually her good nature gets the better of her, and she gives Lise and Colas her blessing.
The staging is under the artistic direction of the Master Fidel Herrouet, from the original choreography of Jean Dauberval. Mr. Fidel was a professional dancer in the Ballet de Camaguey Cuba for 19 years, where he had the opportunity to dance throughout Europe, South, Central, and North America reaching the title of principal dancer in the company, as well as ballet teacher, coach, and jury in ballet competitions. Named also Artistic Director of Atelier de Ballet Costa Rica for 15 years and Master Ballet instructor of the National Dance Company in Costa Rica.
Special guest rehearsal teachers include the Master Aida Villoch, both a member of the Cuban National Ballet Company and Prima Ballerina of El Ballet de Camaguey Cuba, where she was prized with the Natural Cultural Medallion. Danced throughout Europe and concluded her dance career in Belgium and Cuba. She later became the artistic director of Ballet de Camaguey as well as a Master instructor of the National Ballet of Santo Domingo.
Florida Ballet Festival Company is a new Ballet Company in Treasure Coast, preparing their students from young and first year dancers with all the elements necessary to become professional dancers. All the classes and trainings are meant to allow them to grow in the field of ballet as professionals.
Having opened doors in 2013 and celebrating this June 2018 the 5th year of existence in Port St. Lucie, FBFC is proud to celebrate its offering for the first time in Treasure Coast, one of the most important ballets in the international répertoire, La Fille mal Gardee. One of FBFC’s main goals is to allow the young generations of dancers to be nourished with the knowledge of the professional and experienced dancers, thus sharing the stage together increases their own expectation of the art of ballet.
