Take one touch of Broadway musical magic. Add a pinch of Hollywood glamour. Take a spoonful of real onstage chemistry and clever banter. The result is Broadway at the Movies, a musical journey through 80 years of movies and musicals. The Lyric Theatre show, starring Broadway veterans Josh Young and Kirsten Scott, will highlight some of the best of Broadway and Hollywood, with songs from The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story, Carousel, The Sound of Music, Les Mis, and favorite Disney musicals.
Josh Young is a frequent performer at the Stratford Festival, where he has performed in The Grapes of Wrath, Evita, as Che Guevara, and Kiss Me Kate. For his performance as Che he won the Broadway World Toronto Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He also played Marius in a tour of Les Miserables. He played the role of Judas in the 2011-2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar and he was nominated for a Tony. He also won a Theatre World Award for an outstanding Broadway debut. In 2015, he starred in the musical Amazing Grace as John Newton, a role he originated. He can be heard on the cast recording.
On Broadway, Kirsten has originated the roles of "Jenny Hill" in BIG FISH and "Young Phyllis" in the 2012 Kennedy Center revival of FOLLIES. She can also be heard on the cast albums of BIG FISH, FOLLIES, and BUBBLE BOY. Other Broadway includes "Lorraine" in JERSEY BOYS, "Amber" in HAIRSPRAY.
