Grammy and Tony-nominated funny man, Robert Klein, has had his hand in nearly every element of the entertainment industry. With a 40-year career that began with the famed Second City troupe in Chicago and most recently culminated in the documentary Robert Klein Still Can’t Stop His Leg, Klein has perfected the craft of stand-up comedy. The veteran comedian will perform at The Lyric Theatre in an evening of hilarity and razor-sharp wit.

Born in the Bronx, Robert Klein studied at the Yale Drama School before accepting a position with the renowned Second City comedy troupe based in Chicago. A year later, Klein was cast by the famous director Mike Nichols in the Broadway musical The Apple Tree. In 1975, Robert Klein became the first of many to appear in a live concert on HBO. Since his debut on the network, Klein has completed 9 one-man shows for HBO throughout his career. His most recent HBO special aired in 2010, which earned an Emmy nomination. Over his career, Klein has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, two Emmys, and won the LA Drama Critics Circle Award for his performance in the hit Neil Simon musical They’re Playing Our Song.

In addition to his stand-up comedy and Broadway productions, Robert Klein has appeared in television and film, co-starring in the NBC series Sisters and recently landing a recurring guest role on the long-running drama Law & Order. In total, Klein has appeared on The Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman over 100 times, and has appeared in films such as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Two Weeks Notice, and Hooper, among others. Recently, Robert Klein has published his first book with Simon & Schuster titled Amorous Busboy of Decatur Avenue, a coming-of-age memoir about Klein’s experience growing up in the ‘50s and ‘60s before his show business career.
