You don’t have to leave Martin County to see quality theater productions.
Several local companies and a community theater are producing everything from musical comedies to modern dramas, and touring companies bring first rate productions to downtown Stuart.
But the only way to keep these local companies thriving is to support them. I hope to see you in the audience.
The National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China
Where: The Lyric Theatre, 59 S.W. Flagler Ave., Stuart
When: Dec. 1

This is one of the rare performances that can be enjoyed by people age 5 to 95. I took my gymnastics-obsessed daughters to see this company and was as mesmerized as my girls were by the cirque-style balancing and acrobatics.
‘Next to Normal’
Where: The Lyric Theatre, 59 S.W. Flagler Ave., Stuart
When: Jan. 23-24
Information: www.lyrictheatre.com; 772-286-7827
I missed this production ...[co-produced by The Lyric Theatre / Curtain Call Productions] last year, so I’m pleased to see the talented Karin Leone will reprise her role as tortured mother Diana Goodman [a Lyric Theatre Production]. This modern rock musical won the Pulitzer Prize for drama for its candid exploration of a mother’s battle with bipolar disorder.
