A Magical Night of Costumes, Props, and Original Music
Gumbo and Blues at The Lyric
This March, the Sauce Boss returns to The Lyric Theatre. Featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, the Sauce Boss is known for blues songs including “Great Big Fanny” and “Let the Big Dog Eat.” Uniquely, during each performance, the slide guitarist plays his original blues compositions, all while heating up a pot of his signature gumbo. The Orlando native started playing in nightclubs and coffeehouses at the age of 17. He began to draw international attention after the success of his release “Let the Big Dog Eat,” which was featured in the 1986 film Something Wild. In 1999, the Sauce Boss gained the recognition of Jimmy Buffet with the release of Buffet’s hit, “I Will Play for Gumbo,” which references the Sauce Boss’ distinctive performance style. His unique mix of music and food has been featured in a number of major magazines, including notably Living Blues, GQ, and Gourmet Magazine. The Sauce Boss comes to The Lyric Theatre on March 5th at 7:00pm. Tickets are available online at LyricTheatre.com or through The Lyric Box Office at (772) 286-7827. Partial proceeds to benefit the Salvation Army of Martin County.
