STUART — A vocal and enthusiastic crowd filled The Lyric Theatre Friday night to enjoy a musical performance by Boyz II Men, a popular rhythm and blues trio. This is the third time the Grammy Award-winning group has performed at the theater. "They're great. The fans love them," said Lyric house manager Linda Bishop.
Fan Amy Flagler has seen Boyz II Men perform 15 times including three times at the Lyric. She'll follow them to Orlando for their next gig Wednesday at Epcot. "I've been a fan since I was probably twelve," she said. Margaret Laycock also has seen all the group's Lyric performances. "They blew us away the first time so we're back," Laycock said. She admitted to still having photos on her phone from previous Boyz II Men concerts.
She won't be the only one using her phone to brag about her weekend. As the trio took the stage, cellphones popped up everywhere, and an entire row of women captured video with their smartphones. Many women, including Stephanie Paine who remembers owning a Boyz II Men cassette tape, eagerly anticipated the traditional handing out of roses toward the middle of the concert. Women lucky enough to get a flower are serenaded by the trio with their hit, "I'll Make Love To You."
