The Lyric Theatre Presents

MAURICE HINES

“Hines is a consummate showman . . . There’s a master at work here.” – The Boston Herald American

Maurice Hines first hit the stage at the tender age of five, tap dancing alongside his father and brother Gregory, and opening for such stars as Lionel Hampton and Gypsy Rose Lee.  As a solo artist, he has starred onstage and in films in such productions as “The Cotton Club,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Jelly’s Last Jam,” “Eubie!” and “Uptown . . . It’s Hot!” (which earned him a Tony nomination).

Hines is also known as an accomplished jazz singer, with his recordings receiving accolades from JazzTimes and other discerning publications.  And as if all that weren’t enough, he is a renowned director and choreographer, working with the likes of Quincy Jones.  Much more than a song and dance man, Hines is a consummate entertainer who will showcase his extraordinary musical talents on the Lyric stage.
